Winless EV Gives Cheney Run, But Falls

Paul Malisani scored 18 of his 26 points in the third quarter Tuesday to rally defending District 7-AA champion Cheney to a 75-66 win at East Valley in a Frontier League boys opener.

EV (0-6, 0-1) led at halftime, but Cheney figured out the Knights’ press in the third quarter, leading to many layins for Malisani. August Parker added 21 points and Tucker Urdahl hit three 3-pointers for the Blackhawks (6-3, 1-0).

The Knights’ James Spotted Horse scored 22, including eight of EV’s first 11, and Brad Wilson added four 3-pointers and 20 points.
