Banker Sentenced For Embezzlement

From Staff And Wire Reports

A former customer services manager has been sentenced to 1-1/2 years in prison for embezzling $220,000 from the Kent West Branch of Seafirst Bank.

In addition to the prison term, Ellen Marie Gallagher, 45, of Kent was ordered to repay the money in a sentence handed down Friday by U.S. District Judge Thomas Zilly.

Gallagher pleaded guilty on Oct. 24 to charges that she stole money from the bank’s cash drawers over a period of nearly four years. She covered up the thefts by falsifying audit reports and forging signatures, the U.S. attorney’s office said.
