Stolen Property Recovered
Tables, chairs, a punch bowl and other dishes and furniture stolen from the Wayside Community Center on the eve of their annual Christmas program, have been recovered by the Spokane County Sheriff’s deputy.
The community center property was found Jan. 3 at the home of a Deer Park man. No charges have been filed.
Dave Reagan, Sheriff’s Department spokesman, said the furniture and dishes are considered antiques and are being appraised to determine the value. The case is still under investigation.
Items were stolen from the community center north of Spokane, off Highway 395, over a three-day period in late December.
Deputy Rob Cunningham noticed a rototiller in the man’s pickup during a routine traffic stop in late December. He jotted down the serial number, and later discovered it had been reported stolen.
Detectives obtained a search warrant for the man’s home in Deer Park and discovered the chairs, Christmas decorations, a punchbowl set, table and plaques reported stolen from the community center.
Not all of the stolen property was recovered, detectives suspect some of it may have been sold to antique dealers.
