Alicia ‘Tiny’ Haines Spokane
Visitation for Alicia M. “Tiny” Haines, 13, is scheduled from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-South. Memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church.
Born in Spokane, Alicia died Tuesday.
She was an eighth-grade student at Sacajawea Middle School and was an artist who painted and made charcoal sketches.
She is survived by her parents, John and Connie Haines of Spokane; a sister, Michelle Haines of Spokane; two stepsisters, Danniala Haines of Spokane and Crystal Haines of Seattle; her grandparents, Beth Moore of Spokane and Marvin and Joann Moore of Anacortes, Wash.; and great-grandmothers, Mary Lillard of Lewiston and Dorothea Moore of Sequim, Wash.
Memorial contributions may be made to Crestline Baptist Church or Greater Spokane Music and Allied Arts Festival.
Blanche Hardin Spokane
Service for Blanche RoEtta Hardin, 73, will be held at a later date.
Mrs. Hardin died Tuesday in Santa Rosa, Calif., while visiting her daughter.
She was born in Walla Walla and lived there until she moved to Spokane in 1957.
She retired in 1984 from Sacred Heart Hospital, where she had worked in the laundry.
She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Survivors include four daughters, Myrna “Peggy” Martin of Redding, Calif., Winifred Cary of Santa Rosa, and Aloha Hardin and Sharon Rider, both of Spokane; two sons, David Smith and Joe Childs, both of Spokane; two brothers, Wes and Forrest “Swede” Sumerlin, both of Walla Walla; 17 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Joe Hrivnak Spokane
Funeral Mass for Joe A. Hrivnak, 80, is planned for 10 a.m. Saturday at St. John Vianney Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Hennessey Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Hrivnak, who was born in Windber, Pa., died Wednesday.
He married Maxine Edmiston in Passaic, N.J., in 1944.
He served in the Air Force from 1941 to 1945.
He moved to Spokane 54 years ago and worked for Columbia Lighting as a machine operator for 28 years. He retired in 1973.
He was a member of St. John Vianney Parish and volunteered as an usher.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Maxine, and a brother, Walter Hrivnak of New Orleans.
George Mueller Spokane
Visitation for George A. Mueller, 101, is scheduled from noon to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-South. Service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Private burial will be at Riverside Memorial Park.
Mr. Mueller, who died Tuesday, was born in Graceville, Minn.
He moved to a farm near Rosalia, Wash., when he was 4.
He attended Lewis and Clark High School and Kinman Business University and served in the Army during World War I.
He worked as a clerk for the Postal Service for 43 years and retired in 1965.
He was a member of Composers and Artists of America. He was a published poet under the name of Thomas A. Waffle. He also composed lyrics.
He was a member of Central United Methodist Church and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.
His wife of 57 years, Edna Mueller, died in 1982.
He is survived by a son, Gerald Mueller, and a daughter, Phyllis Mae Mueller, both of Spokane; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to Central United Methodist Church.
Mable Protto Spokane
No service will be held for Mable Edith Protto, at her request. Private burial will be held. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Protto, 83, died Sunday.
She was born in Sioux City, Iowa, and was a 50-year Spokane resident. She worked as a medical secretary.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Protto.
Mrs. Protto is survived by several nieces and nephews.
Margaret Coulter Soap Lake, Wash.
No service will be held for Margaret G. Coulter, 93. Nicoles Funeral Home in Ephrata, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.
Miss Coulter, a former Spokane resident, died Saturday.
She was born in Ohio.
She worked for The Crescent in the accounts receivable department and was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Spokane.
She had lived in Soap Lake for the past 12 years.
She is survived by a niece, Jane Walker of Ephrata, and a nephew, Orin Coulter of Mount Vernon, Wash.
Doris Johnson Pullman
Visitation for Doris E. Johnson, 81, is scheduled from 9 a.m. to noon today at Kimball Funeral Home in Pullman. Service will follow at 2 p.m. at St. James Episcopal Church in Pullman. Private graveside service will be at Pullman City Cemetery at a later date.
Mrs. Johnson, a longtime Pullman resident, died Tuesday.
She was born in Monahan, Wash., and grew up in Western Washington.
She married Oliver Johnson in 1938 in Issaquah, Wash. In 1947 they moved to Pullman, and her husband went to work for Washington State University.
Mrs. Johnson was a homemaker and later worked at the WSU Bookstore.
She was a member of the Pullman Women’s Golf Club and was active with the Episcopal Women’s Group of the church.
Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Jeri Lutz of Libertyville, Ill.; two sons, James Johnson of Argyle, Texas, and Richard Johnson of Bellevue, Wash.; and four grandsons.
Dorothy Porter Spokane
Service for Dorothy G. Porter, 68, will be at 2 p.m. today at Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-North. Burial will be at Fairmount Memorial Park.
Born in Keiser, Ark., Mrs. Porter died Monday.
She moved to Spokane from Blytheville, Ark., in 1973.
She worked for the federal government as a bookkeeper in Arkansas and Spokane and retired in 1989.
She is survived by a daughter, Tracy Miller of Spokane; a son, Tim Vaughn of Yorktown, Va.; a sister, Florence Ross of Keiser, Ark.; and four grandchildren.
Robert Wittenberg Spokane
Service for Robert E. Wittenberg, 60, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Thornhill Valley Funeral Home. Cremation will follow.
Mr. Wittenberg, who was born in Wolf Point, Mont., died Monday.
Mr. Wittenberg was a 10-year Spokane resident and worked as a truck driver for more than 30 years.
He is survived by four daughters, Hope Wittenberg of Spokane, Jeanne Ray Kerkagard and Shawn Kirchner, both of Circle, Mont., and Paula Dunham of Seattle; two sons, Robert Wittenberg of Estacada, Ore., and Tracy Wittenberg of Billings, Mont.; and his companion, Penny Moses.
Ina Gottschalk Coeur d’Alene
Service for Ina May Gottschalk, 80, will be held today at 1:30 p.m. at the First Assembly of God Church. Burial will follow at Coeur d’Alene Memorial Gardens. Coeur d’Alene Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Gottschalk, who was born in St. John, Wash., died Tuesday.
She graduated from St. John High School, had worked as a farmer and had a ministry in the Ewan, Pomeroy and Dayton, Wash., areas.
Mrs. Gottschalk moved to Coeur d’Alene in 1975 and was a member of the First Assembly of God Church.
Survivors include her husband of 60 years, William; three sons, Ronn , Gary and William Gottschalk, all of California; three brothers, Joe and Kenneth Kenney, both of Spokane, and Martin Kenney of California; two sisters, Faye Graham of Oregon and Mabel Terrell of Winona, Wash.; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Elonza ‘Nina’ Buzzard Lefebvre Tacoma
Service for Elonza Bissett “Nina” Buzzard Lefebvre, 85, will be held Jan. 22. Bonners Ferry (Idaho) Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Lefebvre, who was born in Alberta, died Jan. 8.
She was a longtime Bonners Ferry resident and recently moved to Tacoma to be near family.
Survivors include two daughters, Nelletta Mostrom of Tacoma and Lucille Barrett of Spokane; a sister, Viola Armstrong, and brother, Clifford Bissett, both of Oregon; 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, four stepgreat-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
Eilene Morris Yakima
No service will be held for Eilene (Creel) Morris. Keith and Keith Funeral Home in Yakima is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Morris, a former Spokane resident, died Saturday. She was 78.
She was born in Baker, Mont., and grew up in Spokane.
In 1977 she and her husband, John “Jack” Morris, moved to Burlington, Wash. They later moved to Mill Creek, Wash., and then settled in the Yakima area.
In Spokane, Mrs. Morris was a member of the Ladies Shrine and the Spokane Children’s Theater. She was also involved with the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center and its Creel/Sontag Guild.
Survivors include her husband of 50 years; a daughter, Debra Morris of Cowiche, Wash.; a son, Jon Morris of Burlington; two brothers, Bill and Bob Creel, both of Spokane; and two grandsons.

Alice Stober Spokane
Visitation for Alice M. Stober, 81, is scheduled from noon to 8 p.m. today at Ball and Dodd Funeral HomeNorth. Service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Fairmount Memorial Park.
Mrs. Stober died Wednesday.
She was born in St. Maries and attended schools in Coeur d’Alene.
She moved to Spokane in 1931 and graduated from North Central High School.
She attended Kinman Business University for a year and worked as a bookkeeper at Dave’s Campers, Custom Camper and Long Lake Lumber Co. and as a secretary at Shadle Park Nazarene Church.
Her husband of 28 years, Harley Stober, died in 1976.
She is survived by a daughter, Diane Stober of Wenatchee; a son, Gene Griffin of Spokane; and a sister, Bernice Belden, and a brother, Willis “Bill” Mott, both of Spokane.
She was a charter member of the Westside Church of the Nazarene.
Raymond Engelhard Spokane
Memorial Mass for Raymond H. Engelhard, 89, is set for 11 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. There will be private burial at Holy Cross Cemetery. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Engelhard, who died Saturday, was born in Uniontown, Wash.
He worked as an environmental health specialist and was resident of Spokane for 60 years.
He was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Parish, the Knights of Columbus, the Moose Lodge and the Corbin Senior Center.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary Engelhard; two sons, David Engelhard of Connell, Wash., and James Engelhard of Ellensburg; a daughter, Mary Ellen Smith of Spokane; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
