Proceeds From Spaghetti Dinner Will Help Send Kids To Tournament

Nina Culver Correspondent

A spaghetti feed to benefit Spokane Lutheran School will be at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 7303 N. Nevada, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Friday.

Proceeds will be used to send more than 35 students in fifth through eighth grades to the Lutheran Elementary School Tournament next month in Portland.

Children of the Son, the school’s choir, will perform at the dinner and students will have artwork on display.

The dinner will be cooked by the children who will be attending the tournament and their parents.

The tournament is the largest tournament in the nation for students at parochial elementary schools. More than 1,000 children are expected to participate in athletic and academic competitions.

Tickets for the dinner are $5 for adults and children over the age of 11, $3 for children ages 3 to 10; children age 2 and under eat for free. Family tickets are available for $25. Tickets can be purchased at the door or by calling the school office, 327-4441.

Choir takes trip back to ‘60s

The Emanon Youth Choir is having a concert and dinner Saturday at North Hill Christian Church, 4620 N. Post.

The performance and dinner, dubbed “A Trip Back to the ‘60s,” runs from 6 to 9 p.m.

The 20 members of the church choir will be performing songs from the ‘60s and wearing ‘60s attire.

The menu will include hamburgers, hot dogs, french fries, and ice cream.

The money raised from the dinner will be used to send the choir on a musical ministry tour to Colorado in June. The choir will perform at churches along the way and then will perform in front of nearly 8,000 people at the General Assembly of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Denver.

Tickets for the dinner are $5 for adults, $3.50 for children under the age of 11, or $16 for a family. Tickets will be available at the door. For more information, call the church office at 326-5400.
