Affair ‘Not Important,’ Camille Cosby Says
Bill Cosby’s wife of 33 years, Camille Cosby, issued a statement Tuesday saying that his affair with another woman many years ago was “not important” to her now and that “we are a united couple.”
Last week a 22-year-old woman, Autumn Jackson, was indicted on extortion charges after demanding $24 million from Cosby to keep her from telling a tabloid that she was his illegitimate daughter.
In an interview with Dan Rather, Cosby acknowledged having had sex with Jackson’s mother. He said that it was “possible” he was Jackson’s father but that he had reason to believe he was not.
In her statement, Camille Cosby said: “All old personal negative issues between Bill and me were resolved years ago. We are a united couple. What occurred 23 years ago is not important to me except for the current issue of extortion.
“What is very important to me is the apprehension of the person or persons who killed our son.”
The Cosbys’ son, Ennis, was shot to death Jan. 16 while changing a flat tire beside a Los Angeles freeway.
Meanwhile, Jackson’s boyfriend, Antonay Williams, pleaded guilty Tuesday to helping in the alleged extortion plot by doing research on Cosby, receiving a document from The Globe tabloid, and taking Jackson and Jose Medina to the airport for their flight to New York.
