Oldest Seattle Mall Scheduled For Update
The city’s oldest shopping mall on Tuesday announced plans for an $18 million renovation that will include a new brick facade, a food court and skylights.
When completed, the 47-year-old Northgate Mall will have new floors of limestone, porcelain tile and marble and a ceiling rebuilt as curved vaults with stained-wood rafters and painted plaster.
The mall has undergone a series of renovations since opening in 1950, including a 1974 roofing-over to block out the rain.
