Gart Plans Store At Northpointe Plaza

A Colorado sporting goods dealer plans to open its first Spokane store at Northpointe Plaza.

Gart Sports, based in Denver, Colo., will open a 45,000-square-foot store this fall, said Doug Morton, company president.

“It’s going to be next to Future Shop,” Morton said. Future Shop, a Canadian electronics and large appliance dealer, opened two stores last year, one in the Valley and one at Northpointe.

Gart’s Northpointe store will be the chain’s 61st. A second store is planned for the Spokane Valley, but Morton would not disclose that location.

Construction on the Northpointe store will begin within 30 days, Morton said.

Gart has been gradually working its way toward Spokane, with two stores in Idaho, in Lewiston and Moscow, one in Kennewick, Wash., and another in Missoula, Mont.

Gart carries a full line of hunting, fishing, camping, skiing, snowboarding and team sports equipment.
