Man With Cocaine Arrested At Airport
Spokane County sheriff’s detectives said they arrested a 26-year-old California man Thursday after he tried to flush a large package of cocaine down a toilet.
Detectives were at Spokane International Airport looking for another man when they grabbed Roy Baxter Dyson by mistake, sheriff’s spokesman Dave Reagan said.
It turned out to be a fortuitous mix-up for the deputies.
As they were checking Dyson’s background, they saw him remove a package from his pants and throw it into a toilet in the holding cell where he was being detained, Reagan said.
Investigators retrieved the package, which contained 209 grams of cocaine, and arrested Dyson on one count of possession of a controlled substance.
Detectives estimated the drugs are worth $10,000 as packaged, twice that if divided into smaller quantities and sold on the street.
Dyson is a confirmed member a Southern California gang, deputies said.
