Task Force To Probe Phone Competition
Accusations from rivals that local phone companies are hampering competition will be investigated by a government task force that was created Tuesday.
“The task force will move quickly to investigate allegations that certain carriers are impeding competition,” Federal Communications Commission Chairman Reed Hundt said in a statement.
Hundt also wants the panel to determine what additional steps, if any, the agency needs to take to more effectively open the $100 billion local phone market to competition.
