Woman’s Lighter Explodes, Setting House On Fire

From Staff And Wire Reports

A house caught fire Saturday when a lighter exploded in a woman’s hand, splashing flaming fluid into a clothes hamper and across a bedroom.

The house at 323 E. Olympic suffered about $40,000 damage, said Spokane Fire Lt. Dave West. The fire blistered the woman’s hand, but West said the injury was minor.

The fire started at 4:44 p.m., when the woman was refilling a lighter. It was apparently too full, West said, so when the woman tried to use it, it exploded. , DataTimes
