Man Found Dead In River Probably Died While Fishing
Two Spokane Valley boys discovered the body of a 49-year-old man floating down the Spokane River on Friday as they fished near Plante’s Ferry Park.
The body of the man, identified as Jimmie D. Wild, was spotted shortly after noon by the boys, who rode their bikes home to tell their mother. She called 911.
Spokane County Sheriff’s Office marine deputies pulled the body from the river about 1 p.m. The Valley resident’s driver’s license was in the pocket of his denim shorts.
There were no obvious signs of trauma, and investigators believed late Friday that Wild died from a medical condition while fishing in the river, sheriff’s spokesman Dave Reagan said.
An autopsy will be performed early next week.
His car, along with some fishing tackle, was found upriver near Trent Avenue and Woodlawn Road.
