Policing Office Opens At Ewu

A new community policing office opens today at Eastern Washington University.

The SCOPE (Sheriff’s Community Oriented Police Enforcement) office will host an open house at 1:30 p.m. in the Pence Union Building.

The office will staffed by trained Spokane, Cheney and university volunteers from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. every day. Partially funded by a U.S. Department of Justice grant, the SCOPE office will serve as a center for crime prevention.

Government officials, EWU administrators and members of the Cheney community are expected to attend the open house.
