An Opportunity For Intergenerational Class
Opportunity Christian Church has several new offerings as part of its summer schedule.
Two new Sunday school classes have begun. Both will meet each Sunday at the church, 708 N. Pines Road, from 9 to 9:45 a.m.
The intergenerational class, which will run through Sept. 7, is open to anyone in the first grade through adults. Topics will range from building and breaking relationships, being good neighbors, sharing with others and worshiping.
Religious education director Leah Coleman said organizers of the class succeeded in finding materials that should interest both young children and adults. “It’s kind of geared for everyone,” Coleman said.
One of the reasons for doing an intergenerational class is to get the different age groups together, Coleman said. Too often, people come to church and just sit in their pews, not interacting very much with other people. “It’s designed to be helpful in getting everyone acquainted,” said Coleman. “The adults need to learn how to be young again and the little ones need to interact with the grandmas and grandpas and the mommys and the daddys.”
The second class, “Scriptures Alive,” will be offered through July 13. The class will be presented in video form. Topics include violence and faith, religion and politics, and the graying of the church.
The classes are free and open to all. No advance registration is required. For more information, call the church office at 926-3691.
Opportunity Christian has also started its summer worship schedule. Sunday worship services are now at 10 a.m.

A free will offering will be collected during the service to help send the church youth to summer camp and to benefit the music program.
