Ceremony To Honor Slain Waverly Couple

A Waverly couple murdered earlier this year will be honored by the Veterans of Foreign Wars at a ceremony Saturday.

Allen and Trudy Mattausch were both veterans of the Korean War and longtime VFW members.

Cheney Post 11326 will host the memorial service, which begins at 2 p.m. at Waverly City Park.

The Mattauschs were shot to death in their home in January. Two teenagers who did odd jobs on the victims’ farm are charged with aggravated first-degree murder.
