Top Jobless Benefit Increased In Idaho

From Staff And Wire Reports

Idaho’s maximum unemployment benefit for new unemployment insurance claims increases July 6 to $265 a week, a $6 increase from the current maximum rate. The minimum benefit remains unchanged at $44 a week.

Jerry Fackrell, a research supervisor at the Idaho Department of Labor, said the maximum rate is 60 percent of the average wage rate - $443 - of workers covered under state unemployment insurance.

Some 23 states pay higher weekly unemployment benefits than Idaho. Highest is New Jersey at $374 per week, and lowest is Missouri, at just $175 per week.

In Washington state, the maximum weekly unemployment benefit is $365, with a minimum of $78.
