WSU Opens Colville Site

Colville residents can earn bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Washington State University without leaving home under a new program to be introduced Thursday.

A public open house is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at WSU’s new Stevens County Learning Center. Dignitaries including James Zuiches, dean of the WSU College of Agriculture and Home Economics, will have a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 2:10.

The center is in the Community Colleges of Spokane building, which formerly housed Colville High School.

Coordinator Al Kowitz said the center will begin offering a master’s in health policy and administration this fall. A bachelor’s in business administration will follow next spring, and a degree in natural resource management and information technology is planned.

The center also may offer education degrees and programs for teacher certification and endorsements, Kowitz said.
