Gun Range Is Site Of Second Injury

Associated Press

A 27-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the head “spontaneously resuscitated” shortly after being pronounced dead Friday on arrival at Overlake Hospital Medical Center, hospital officials said.

The Seattle man, who was not identified, was on life support in very critical condition late Friday, shift administrator Barbara Bolts said.

The shooting occurred at Wade’s Eastside Gun Shop and Range.

The man had fired one box of 50 rounds and was starting on a second when he fell to the ground about 2:30 p.m., police Lt. Bill Ferguson said.

Others at the range noticed him on the ground with a head wound.

A surveillance camera at the range showed him putting the 9mm handgun to the side of his head, gun range owner Wade Gaughran told KIRO-TV in Seattle.

The man was pronounced dead at the hospital, but an unidentified hospital spokesman told KIRO that he was spontaneously resuscitated.

Bolts confirmed that the man was initially pronounced dead.

In April, a 24-year-old Redmond man was killed at the range when a woman lost control of a powerful handgun when it recoiled. The death was ruled accidental.
