Welfare Queries To Be Answered
State officials will hold a public meeting Thursday night to answer questions about WorkFirst, Washington’s new welfare policy.
WorkFirst requires welfare recipients to find and retain a job. Public assistance is limited to five years. The new policy also changes rules for subsidized child care and aid to legal immigrants.
A preliminary draft of the changes is available through the state Department of Social and Health Services. The policy begins July 1.
The meeting will be held 6-8 p.m. in the River Point Auditorium on the Joint Center for Higher Education, 668 N. River Point Blvd.
