Berbick Waives Hearing
Former heavyweight champion Trevor Berbick has waived an extradition hearing and will be returned to Florida following his arrest on a probation violation.
Onondaga County Judge William J. Burke on Monday gave Florida authorities 10 days to come and get Berbick or the boxer will be set free.
Berbick, who lives in Florida, was arrested Saturday night at Syracuse’s Hancock International Airport.
He was heading to the International Boxing Hall of Fame in Canastota, where an induction ceremony was held Sunday for Sugar Ray Leonard, Don King, Jose Torres and 10 other boxing greats.
