A technical officer at the Canadian Grand Prix said race winner Michael Schumacher violated a limit on tires, but the victory stood because a form was not properly filled out, a report said Tuesday.

Giorgio Toso, a technical official, told Montreal La Presse that Schumacher used 31 tires - three more than permitted - in Saturday’s qualifying for Sunday’s race.

Officials from FIA, Formula One’s governing body, overlooked the violation because some of the tires Schumacher used on his Ferrari were incorrectly entered by race inspectors on the tire forms, Toso said.
