Copter Crew Rescues 2 On Mount Rainier
An Army helicopter rescued two climbers stranded on Mount Rainier on Wednesday, the National Park Service said.
Michael Catlett and Don Willcox, from the suburban Washington, D.C.-area, had been stuck near the summit of the 14,410-foot mountain for three days because of bad weather.
They were taken to Madigan Army Medical Center near Tacoma for checkups and released, the Park Service said.
Catlett and Willcox started their climb Thursday and called park rangers by cellular telephone on Sunday to say that they were stuck in whiteout conditions at Liberty Cap, elevation 14,112 feet.
They had a tent, sleeping bags and water but were running out of fuel and food.
