Bullets Strike Two Homes, One Business

Two homes and a business were peppered with bullets earlier this week, but the gunman escaped each time.

Robert E. Robertson and his wife were asleep early Wednesday morning in their Bunco Road home when a sharp bang woke them up, according to the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Department.

Robertson grabbed his shotgun and noticed a bullet hole in the kitchen cabinet above the refrigerator. He said he didn’t see or hear any vehicle and told sheriff’s deputies that he doesn’t know of anyone who might be the suspect.

Georgia Emch, who lives and works on Garwood Road in Hayden, also heard shots during the night. When she went into her business office Wednesday morning, she noticed two holes in the window facing the road. One bullet had penetrated a wall and entered the kitchen.

Employees at Acme Materials & Construction Co. on Wyoming Avenue also reported Wednesday morning that someone had shot at the business.

A sheriff’s deputy confirmed that a window had been hit by several bullets, some of which had penetrated an inner wall to the bathroom. The deputy also found nine casings on the roadway outside the business.

The three crimes are under investigation.
