Conservation Group Has Option To Buy Cougar Bay Acreage
Another piece of Cougar Bay may fall under the protective umbrella of the Nature Conservancy.
The conservation group recently signed an option to purchase 88 acres from Crown Pacific Partners, a timber company. The land in question includes 1,300 feet of shoreline.
The Nature Conservancy has until May 1, 1998 to raise the $245,000 purchase price plus additional money for taxes and managing the property. The $245,000 deal is $75,000 below market value, the group said.
Cougar Bay is one of the few remaining undeveloped bays on Lake Coeur d’Alene. The Nature Conservancy negotiated the purchase of 80 acres of Cougar Bay from McCormack Properties in 1994 for $500,000.
