Intruders Shoot 1 Man, Injure Another

From Staff And Wire Reports

A Spokane man was shot and another injured after masked intruders broke into a home in the 2600 block of East Pacific early Friday.

Two men kicked in the back door at 1:30 a.m., demanding “the money,” the victims told police.

A 36-year-old man said he confronted the armed intruders in the kitchen, using a small table as a shield.

One of the robbers fired a pump shotgun at the resident, who was hit in the chest, neck and face by shotgun pellets and wood splinters. He underwent surgery and remains in stable condition at a local hospital.

Another man in the home was assaulted but not seriously injured, police said.

The robbers stole a woman’s purse and drove from the house in a gray-and-blue car.

Police found drug paraphernalia in the home, and residents are now under investigation for drug trafficking.
