Valley Assembly Has New Children’s Pastor

Nina Culver Correspondent

The Valley Assembly of God has welcomed Jeff Miles as its new children’s pastor.

Miles comes to the Valley after eight years as the children’s pastor at the Assembly of God in Hawthorn, Calif.

Miles grew up in a pastor’s home and though he never felt any pressure from his father to enter the ministry, he decided early on that it was what he wanted to do. “I felt like I wanted to make my life mean something for eternity,” he said.

Miles began attending Southern California College right out of high school and took his first posting as a pastor at the age of 23. He started out in youth ministry, working with teenagers, then began working with younger children.

One of the things he hopes to accomplish in his new position is to make children like coming to church instead of dreading it. “One of the goals is to make church such a fun and exciting place that kids can’t wait to come,” Miles said.

His work with children will also help prepare him for the larger role of being a father. Miles and his wife, Angela, are expecting their first child in December.
