Barbie, the buxom, blond doll who has enchanted little girls for nearly 40 years, will have a new look to celebrate the production of the billionth Barbie doll.

Unveiled Monday in Paris, Barbie’s new look includes a red, white and gold imperial-Barbie style with full skirts, sequins and crinoline skirts.

This fairy queen style Barbie will be presented by the manufacturer, Mattel Inc., next fall.

Since her creation in 1959, Barbie has grown to be the best-selling doll in the world. The Barbie line now includes an array of dolls, including Ken, a handicapped friend and a number of ethnically diverse figures.

The billionth doll includes production of all dolls in the Barbie family.
