Milo Creek Fix Is Meeting Topic
Disaster officials are inviting all interested community members to a meeting Monday evening to discuss repairs of Milo Creek.
State, federal and local officials will gather to kick off efforts to resolve the ongoing problem of the creek.
Milo Creek flows from Wardner through Kellogg in an old underground culvert system. The culverts clogged with flood debris in May, and the creek burst through a storm drain. The creek has been flowing above ground, through city streets, since then.
The city’s been trying to rebuild the culvert system since similar flooding occurred in the 1970s.
After President Clinton declared the five North Idaho counties a disaster area earlier this month, the Federal Emergency Management Agency assigned one man full time to Kellogg.
FEMA officials will be joined by state disaster officials and representatives of various government agencies at Monday’s meeting. The meeting will run from 6 to 9 p.m. in the Kellogg Middle School cafeteria. , DataTimes
