Bomb Kills 3, Injures 7 On Train In Russia
A bomb exploded Friday on a passenger train traveling from Moscow to St. Petersburg, killing three people and injuring seven, officials said.
The device went off in the lavatory about 6:30 p.m. as the No. 24 train neared the village of Torbino, 140 miles southeast of St. Petersburg, said Emergency Situations Ministry spokesman Mikhail Baryshnikov.
The damaged car was uncoupled from the train, which continued along one of Russia’s busiest train routes to St. Petersburg, the country’s second largest city.
Suicide may have been the motive for the blast, the Interfax and the ITAR-Tass news agencies reported.
They said an unidentified man set off the device, killing himself, another male passenger and a 13-year-old boy.
