Teacher Accused Of Affair With Pupil
A Shorewood Elementary School teacher has been suspended for allegedly having an affair with a 14-year-old student.
The female teacher’s alleged affair with the male student appears to have started sometime last summer, when the student was 13, school district spokesman Nick Latham said.
A person who claimed to be an acquaintance of the 35-year-old teacher went to the district Tuesday and made the allegations, Latham said.
The teacher has four children and is pregnant with a fifth.
“The whole district is in shock over this,” Latham said. “She was a well-respected teacher by colleagues, by the administration and by the parents of her students.”
No similar complaints had ever been made about the teacher, who has worked for the district for eight years, he said. She was suspended with pay after she finished work Wednesday.
King County prosecutors may decide Monday or Tuesday whether to file criminal charges in the case.
