A Golden Gloves boxer who was knocked unconscious in the ring died of a head injury, according to autopsy results released.

The death of 19-year-old Dylan Baker of Round Rock was ruled an accident, said Frank Tovar, an investigator with the Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Baker, a freshman at Southwestern University in Georgetown, was pronounced dead at 10 p.m. Saturday at University Hospital in San Antonio, a day after he was injured.

Dylan Baker had been given a standing 8-count after taking several blows from Victor Mendoza. When fighting resumed, Mendoza knocked Baker down again. He was unconscious for 7 minutes.
