The B’S Boys

Darrington 68, Toutle Lake 57

Key to the game: The Loggers overcame a 10-5 Toutle lead with a hail of 3-pointers. Junior Dennis Sherrill, whose 14.1 scoring average belies how well he’s played lately, knocked down 3 of 5 3-pointers on the way to 31 points.

Other highlights: Shaky at the outset, Darrington played with more confidence as the morning wore on. Sophomore Ned Miller connected on 3 of 6 beyond the 3-point arc to augment Sherrill, who’s been on fire since the district tournament, when he bombed Clallam Bay for 36.

With an assortment of shots, including a wicked jump hook, Sherrill - who drained 12 of 20 shots - was a big part of a decisive third-quarter push, when Darrington went from two down to seven up.

The Loggers hit 7 of 14 3-point shots.

Freshman Casey Frandsen had 10 for the Ducks, who got 16 from Eric Keele and 13 out of Travis Sparks.

Twenty-seven seconds later, McKenna hit a 3-point shot - he was 4 of 8 from 3-point range - to yank the lead back for Manson. The winners never trailed after that.

“He’s a pretty special sophomore,” said Manson coach Joe Teague, who starts only one senior.
