Woman Arrested For Drug, Drug Paraphernalia Charges
Spokane police arrested a Spokane woman earlier this week with a full stock of drugs and drug paraphernalia, including a Loony Toons lunch box packed with methamphetamine, used crack pipe screens and cigarette papers.
Kandy Lynn Campbell, 38, was booked into the Spokane City-County Jail for drug and drug paraphernalia charges, and for an outstanding theft warrant. She was in custody Tuesday, awaiting a bond hearing for the drug charges.
Police stopped Campbell for speeding on Indiana Avenue near Addison Street early Sunday.
They found Campbell’s car packed with a pharmaceutical smorgasbord, including heroin, methamphetamine, crack cocaine, prescription drugs and marijuana, according to police reports.
There was also a full assortment of user utensils: scales, razor blades, syringes, crack pipes, a butane torch and a pager, in addition to the things inside the lunchbox.
A passenger with Campbell was not arrested.
‘Bounty hunter’ arrested
Police arrested a self-proclaimed “bounty hunter” for carrying unlicensed weapons during a routine traffic stop.
Police stopped a 1982 Pontiac on North Freya late last Friday.
Manuel Vargas, 20, a passenger in the car, was wearing holsters for .357 Magnum and .380 semi-automatic pistols, both of which were found in the car. He was arrested for not having a concealed weapons permit, and was released Saturday on bail.
Vargas told police he was a bounty hunter for the state Fish and Game Department. They didn’t believe him.
Police also arrested the driver of the car, Jack K. Gannon, of Newport, Wash., for driving with an expired license and for possession of methamphetamine and marijuana.
Saddles stolen from garage
Thieves made off with almost $3,000 in horse saddles from the unlocked garage of a vacationing Elk couple.
The burglary, at a home on the 37000 block of North Chapman Road, is similar to a livery theft earlier this winter, said Sheriff’s Department spokesman Dave Reagan.
In the earlier burglary, the culprits were caught. Reagan said the Sheriff’s Department is investigating the most recent theft.
The burglars took three saddles, including a $1,100 Hereford men’s roping saddle and a hoof pick knife.
They also stole a pair of outboard motors, including a $1,400 Evinrude, and two chain saws.
The burglars didn’t have to work hard for the goods: The garage door was unlocked, and the owners were out of town for three weeks. “The lesson in this one: Lock your garage, especially if you are going out of town,” said Reagan.
