Delta, Boeing Talking About Exclusive Deal

From Staff And Wire Reports

Responding to a report that Boeing is looking for an exclusive agreement, Delta Air Lines said Tuesday it still hasn’t made a decision about which airplane manufacturer to go with when it replaces its fleet of L-1011s.

“At this time we are in the process of negotiations,” Delta spokeswoman Kimberly King said.

The Wall Street Journal reported Tuesday that Boeing Co. was seeking an agreement under which it would be the exclusive supplier of Delta’s future planes.

Boeing reached a similar deal with American Airlines last year: American committed to buying 103 jets worth $6.6 billion by 2001, and in exchange it has the option to buy another 527 at pre-set prices as they are needed over the next 20 years.
