Organizational Meeting To Be Held At Woodridge

Indian Trail and Five Mile Prairie residents will meet Wednesday at Woodridge Elementary to consider forming a neighborhood council.

Molly Myers and Rod Minarik from Spokane Neighborhood Services, will attend the organizational meeting to answer questions and offer suggestions.

The neighborhood council system was adopted in Spokane to improve communication between the city and neighborhoods. It doesn’t replace any existing neighborhood groups, said Minarik, the city’s neighborhood liaison.

Neighborhood councils set their own direction, outlining concerns, goals, strengths and weaknesses.

During the first meeting, residents will decide if they want to organize a council, and then set the geographic boundaries of their neighborhood.

Five neighborhood councils are already up and running.

The meeting in the library at Woodridge, 5100 W. Shawnee, begins at 7 p.m. and is expected to last about two hours. For more information, call Minarik at 625-6730.
