The eighth of 12 Lilac Festival princesses was chosen Thursday night.

Kelli Van Matre, a Central Valley High senior, will represent her school. She is the daughter of Garyle and Mike Van Matre.

Van Martre, 18, is a cheerleader, softball player, Leadership Class member and volunteer mentor to elementary school kids.

She plans to attend a four-year college to study education in hopes of becoming a high school history teacher or guidance counselor.

One of the Lilac princesses will be named queen April 12 at Shadle Park High School. , DataTimes
