Snow-Sport Report

Compiled By John Miller

Alpine skiing

Students ski for $7 tonight at Schweitzer, which also offers discounted rentals. During Schweitzer’s Military Days, March 15-23, all I.D. cardholders receive $25 lift tickets.

The Festival Cup benefit races are March 21-23. Entry fee: $500/team includes three days of racer-rate skiing, food, and more. Info: (208) 263-9555.

Nordic skiing

Take advantage of the last weekend of grooming on the Mount Spokane State Park trail system. Even after grooming is history, park rangers say the trails will be fit for skiing until mid-April - and maybe later.

Grooming at Geothermal and Wolf in the Newport Ranger district is finished.

High avalanche danger has been forecast in the Panhandle National Forest - and just about everywhere else. Snowpack is at 150 percent of normal, with heavy snow still falling. Updates: (208) 765-7323.

Snowmobiling

A slide that temporarily closed Moon Pass has been cleared, but groomed Boulder and Beaver Creek trails near Priest Lake are closed because of avalanche danger.

In Shoshone County, trails around Glidden Lake were groomed Wednesday, and the Coeur d’Alene River area was finished Thursday.

Regular grooming continues at North and South Baldy and Mount Spokane trails in Spokane County until at least April 1. Info: 456-4730.
