Van Matre Is Cv’s Lilac Princess

The eighth of 12 Lilac Festival princesses was chosen Thursday night.

Kelli Van Matre, a Central Valley High senior, will represent her school. She is the daughter of Gayle and Mike Van Matre.

Van Matre, 18, is a cheerleader, softball player, Leadership Class member and volunteer mentor to elementary schoolchildren.

She plans to attend a four-year college to study education in hopes of becoming a high school history teacher or guidance counselor.

Van Matre’s last name and her mother’s first name were misspelled in Thursday’s edition.

One of the Lilac princesses will be named queen April 12 at Shadle Park High School.
