Post Office Branch Tightens Security
For several days, employees at the U.S. Postal Service’s general mail facility at 703 E. Trent have been forced to show employee identification before they enter the building.
Postal Service officials won’t say why, but they’ve increased security at the mail facility.
Since Wednesday, security guards outside the building have been monitoring the coming and going of all employees.
“Because the safety of our postal employees is our paramount concern, we believe it prudent to enhance the security,” said Jim Bordenet, a postal inspector and public information officer in Seattle.
Asked what caused the increase in security, Bordenet said “the matter is currently under investigation.”
