Riverside State Park Plans To Be Discussed
The Washington Parks and Recreation Commission will host the first two in a series of public hearings to plan the future of Riverside State Park.
The first meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. Monday in the Student Union Building at Spokane Falls Community College. A second meeting is set for 7 p.m. Tuesday in the regional wastewater treatment plant, 4401 N. Aubrey L. White Parkway.
The commission hopes people who attend those meetings will come to others during the summer and fall.
At issue are such matters as where horses, bikes and all-terrain vehicles will be allowed, the protection of fossils and rare plants, and maintenance of park buildings and bridges.
The commission also plans to review plans to adjust the park’s boundaries. That issue has sparked debate in recent years as the commission has proposed trading away land considered surplus even though it is within the park’s current boundaries.
Parks officials also would like to add some land outside the boundaries. , DataTimes
