Workshop Caters To Forest Landowners

From Staff And Wire Reports

Forest landowners with questions about managing trees damaged by last November’s ice storm can get answers at a workshop in Spokane next Wednesday.

The workshop is sponsored by the Department of Natural Resources and the Spokane County Conservation District.

It will be held in rooms A, B and C of the Spokane County Agricultural Center, 222 N. Havana, from 7 to 9 p.m. on March 19.

The DNR also is offering a free “Storm Damage Information Kit ” to property owners with damaged ornamental trees or forest stands.

It addresses proper pruning and tree care, wildfire safety and several “backyard forest stewardship” topics, said DNR’s Guy Gifford.

To receive the kit, call DNR at 1-800-527-3305 during business hours, press 0 and ask for a Storm Damage Kit. The same request can be made by e-mail to forest- stewardship@wadnr.gov. , DataTimes
