Idaho’s Bruder Wins Steeplechase

University of Idaho steeplechaser Frank Bruder took advantage of a change in scenary from snowy Idaho to sunny California. Bruder cruised to victory at a three-way meet at the University of California and in the process earned a provisional qualifying time for the NCAA outdoor championships.

Bruder, a senior from Germany, completed the 3,000-meter course in eight minutes, 50.88 seconds. He finished more than 30 seconds ahead of Delvin Elizondo of UCLA.

Jason St. Hill also came away victorious with his victory in the 200 meters in 21.23 seconds and Niels Kruller won the long jump with a leap of 24 feet, 8.5 inches.

Without a full team, Idaho still finished just three points, 76-73, behind host Cal. , DataTimes
