Inmates In Segregation After Saturday Stabbing

From Staff And Wire Reports

A lockdown at the Clallam Bay Corrections Center, imposed after a murder convict from Tacoma was stabbed and wounded slightly, was lifted Sunday morning.

A second murder convict and another man remained in segregation as a result of the stabbing Saturday at the prison about 50 miles west of Port Angeles.

Prison spokeswoman Patricia Woolcock said a motive for the attack was undetermined, and Clallam County sheriff’s deputies were investigating.

Jemaine Deon Pettus, 24, was stabbed in the chest and neck with a sharpened piece of aluminum as he and about four dozen other inmates were in the recreation unit for an exercise break, Woolcock said.

Pettus was taken to a hospital for treatment.
