Man With Sawed-Off Shotgun Arrested
An Airway Heights man is facing federal firearms charges after being arrested while transporting a sawed-off shotgun in a stolen car, authorities said.
Trooper Pat Percival arrested Charles Miller, 26, about 5:40 p.m. Tuesday near the intersection of Day-Mount Spokane and Bruce roads in northeast Spokane County, the Washington State Patrol reported.
Percival was tipped off by a motorist who minutes earlier spotted Miller driving erratically and called 911 to report a possible drunken driver.
The trooper said he found a sawed-off 12-gauge shotgun in the stolen Chevrolet Camaro that Miller was driving. The barrel of the gun had been cut down to 16 inches.
There also was methamphetamine, syringes and other drugs in the car, WSP reported.
Miller was booked into the county jail on state charges of drug possession, car theft and being a convicted felon in possession of a gun.
The federal Bureau of Tobacco, Alcohol and Firearms is expected to file federal charges against Miller for possessing a sawed-off shotgun, troopers said. , DataTimes
