Soldier Killed In Lebanon
Iranian-backed guerrillas killed an Israeli soldier and wounded three others in an ambush Wednesday in southern Lebanon, triggering retaliatory artillery fire, security officials said.
Members of the Hezbollah, or Party of God, militia attacked an Israeli mechanized convoy with a Sagger missile and rocket-propelled grenades near the Crusader-built Beaufort Castle, the officials said.
The castle is inside Israel’s self-styled “security zone” in southern Lebanon. The dead and wounded soldiers were airlifted by helicopter to Israel, the officials in Lebanon said on customary condition of anonymity.
