Japanese Officials Plan Trade Seminar

From Staff And Wire Reports

As the departure date nears for a Spokane trade mission to Japan, four officials from that country will discuss business opportunities in the Kansai Region at a two-hour seminar Friday at the Spokane Area Chamber of Commerce.

The Kansai Region includes Osaka, Kyoto, Nara, Kobe, and Nishinomiya, Spokane’s sister city.

The presenters are Michihiro Matsumoto, director of the Osaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry International Division; OCCI Deputy Manager Ryoichi Nakano; Miki Nakamura, interim director of the USA*Japan Trade Expansion Center(JTEC); and Tatsuo Koganei, senior trade adviser for the Japan External Trade Organization.

OCCI and JTEC are promoting interest in the Kansai Region among mid- and small-sized businesses.

Following the presentations, local companies will have a brief period to exchange product samples and information with the representatives and discuss export feasibility.

The seminar begins at 1 p.m. Admission for members of the Spokane Regional International Trade Alliance is free. Admission is $10 for non-members. To RSVP, call 459-4123.

The alliance, an offshoot of the Chamber of Commerce, has organized a 22-member delegation that departs for Japan April 4.
