Honest cleaners
A big thank you to the very honest staff at Careful Cleaners on Pines Road.
They returned several hundred dollars that we accidentally left in the pocket of a pair of pants.
It is nice to know that honesty is alive and well in Spokane. As transplants from San Diego, we’re sure that such a thing would never happen there!
Thanks again. Hope your honesty is rewarded tenfold. Kelly Scott Newman Lake
Desk layout offensive
As a student in the midst of a term paper, I have spent a considerable amount of time in libraries recently. All of the libraries have been extremely kind in helping me, but while I was in the Valley Library, I came across a sight that disturbed me greatly.
In the reference section of the library, desks are available for those wishing to use them. It is not the desks themselves but the shape they create that distresses me. Four tables are connected and have two walls on each side of them for privacy, but in arranging them this way, they create a swastika.
I’m sure that this mishap was not intentional, but for anyone just passing by, it can send you a mixed signal about the library.
I am sure that I am not the only person to notice these desks. What I would like to know is why nothing has been done to get rid of them. With people coming so far to stop prejudice, it seems silly for such an error to occur in such a public place as the library. Tamara Hill Spokane
