St. Peter Lutheran Church Busy With Planned Holy Week Services

Holy Week is a busy one for many churches in the area, including St. Peter Lutheran Church, 4620 N. Regal. A worship service to celebrate Maundy Thursday will be held today at 7:30 p.m. A Tenebrae service of meditation will be Friday at 7:30 p.m. to remember Christ’s crucifixion on the cross.

An Easter vigil is scheduled for Saturday at 8 p.m. The beginning of the service will be held outside the church.

The church’s youth are serving breakfast from 7:30 to 9 a.m. on Easter Sunday to raise money for youth to summer camps. Tickets are $2.50 per person, or up to $10 per family. Tickets can be purchased at the door or in advance by calling the church at 487-4843.

An Easter worship service will follow the breakfast at 10 a.m.

Seder meal at Messiah Lutheran

Messiah Lutheran Church, 4202 N Belt, will host a Seder meal today at 6 p.m. A short Communion service will conclude the meal. The chancel choir will perform at a worship service at 7 p.m. on Friday. Easter services will be held at 8:15 and 11 a.m. on Sunday. The voice choir and the handbell choir will perform, accompanied by trumpets.

The youth of the church are serving breakfast from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Sunday. Tickets will be available at the door and are $3.50 for adults, $2.50 for children or $10 per family. All proceeds will benefit the youth group.

Maundy Thursday worship

A Maundy Thursday worship service will be at 7:30 p.m. tonight at Country Homes Christian Church, 8415 N. Wall. The choir will perform at this service.

On Friday church members will join several other North side churches for an ecumenical worship service at Whitworth Presbyterian Church, 312 W. Hawthorne Road. Pastors from some of the churches will speak on forgiveness, pardon, concern, loneliness, need, triumph and commitment. The service will be from noon to 1 p.m.

Worship services will be at 8:30 and 11 a.m. at Country Homes on Easter Sunday. The choir will perform at both services. A light breakfast will be served from 9 to 9:45 a.m. The breakfast is free.

St. Francis Masses scheduled

Several Masses are scheduled for this week at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. The pastor will wash the feet of a dozen people at today’s Holy Thursday Mass at 7:30 p.m. Masses are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Good Friday and Holy Saturday. Easter Sunday Masses will be at 8:30 and 10:30 a.m.

Easter service at Whitworth Chapel

The North Spokane Community Church is holding an Easter service Sunday at 10 a.m at the Whitworth College Chapel. A reception in honor of the church’s first anniversary will follow. Refreshments and free lattes will be served. Children are invited to participate in an Easter egg hunt.

Easter sunrise service

The Spokane Friends Church, 1612 W. Dalke, will host an Easter sunrise service Sunday at 6:30 a.m. A free breakfast will be served at 8:45 a.m. A children’s video will be shown during the breakfast. The worship service scheduled for 9:45 a.m. will feature the cantata “Amazing Love.”

Stew supper at North Hill Christian

North Hill Christian Church, 4620 N. Post, will host a stew supper at 6:30 p.m. today. A Communion service will follow, featuring a reenactment of the Last Supper. Child care will be available. Easter services will be at 8:30 and 11 a.m. on Sunday. The 11 a.m. service will feature the cantata “Celebrate the Risen Christ…Celebrate Life,” performed by the junior, youth, and adult choirs.

Foot washing service

Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 3909 W. Rowan, is holding a foot washing service today at 7 p.m. to celebrate Maundy Thursday. The adult choir will perform the cantata “The Passion of Our Lord” at Friday’s service at 7 p.m. The Easter vigil will be at 9 p.m. Saturday. A meal will follow the worship service. Easter Sunday services are scheduled for 7:30, 9:15 and 11 a.m.

Easter cantata

The choir of the Spokane Central Seventh-day Aventist Church, 828 W. Spofford, will perform an Easter cantata during a worship service at 10:45 a.m. on Saturday. All are invited to attend.
