Dilbert Heads For Madison Avenue

Bloomberg News

Dilbert, the voice of disaffected office-cubicle dweebs everywhere, is turning Madison Avenue.

The popular cartoon character has signed on to help promote products such as Coca-Cola Co.’s Nestea iced tea and Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing Co.’s Post-It notes.

Up to now, most of the bureaucratically burdened character’s licenses have been for products that just feature the cartoon. Now, Dilbert will start pitching products and just might accomplish what he’s never been able to do at work: succeed.

“He’s that kind of everyman character that a lot of people identify with,” said Marty Brockstein of the Licensing Letter, an industry publication.
