Lakeside Star Claims A-4 Honor

The Lakeside High boys basketball team’s state championship season has earned statewide honors.

Andrew Twiss of the Knights was named A-4 Player of the Year today by the Idaho Statesman newspaper of Boise. Coaches vote for the honor.

Twiss, 6-foot-5 junior post, averaged 18 points and nine rebounds per game to lead Lakeside (22-1) to the state championship.

Senior teammate Brendon Nelson was named to the all-state second team. Knights James Twoteeth, Glen Lambert and Buck Allen received honorable mention.

Mullan’s Chris Angle and Al Sisk also received honorable mention.

Junior guard Chad Quesnell of Post Falls (22-4), fourth at state, was named A-1 second team. Trojans Brason Alexander and Austin Lee were named honorable mention.

Pocatello Highland junior guard Joe Green was named Player of the Year.

Moscow senior guard Adam Miller, who led the Bears (20-3) to the State A-2 championship, was named to the first team. Bonners Ferry senior guard Adam Hiatt was named second team.

Bishop Kelly’s Abe Jackson was named A-2 Player of the Year.

Kellogg’s Mike Mercado, Heath Merek, Nathan Corkill and Seth Rice gained honorable mention along with Lakeland’s Ryan Banks and Moscow’s Tony Rinaldi, Chad Curtis, Scott Strobel and Jason Kuska.
